Maa Laxmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She is the consort of Vishnu. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped by those who wish to acquire or to preserve wealth. Hindus worship Lakshmi the most on Diwali, the festival of lights. Although Mother Lakshmi is worshiped as the Goddess of fortune, when she is worshipped with Narayana not only wealth but also peace and prosperity never leave the home of the worshipper. Goddess Lakshmi means Good Luck to Hindus. The word 'Lakshmi' is derived from the Sanskrit word "Laksya", meaning 'aim' and she is the goddess of wealth and prosperity, both material and spiritual. Goddess Lakshmi, also called Shri, is the divine spouse of Lord Vishnu and provides Him with wealth for the maintenance and preservation of the creation. Maa Lakshmi, also called Laxmi, is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness. She holds the promise of material fulfillment and contentment. She is described as restless, whimsical yet maternal, with her arms raised to bless and to grant her blessings.
