Swap-not-shop goes back to basics

Swap not Shop! Athens Oct11_400px
You know the drill!

Bring a bag of clean and in good condition clothes, that you are bored with or no longer fit, let them free to be loved by somebody else, and fill your bag with whatever else that strikes your fancy.

I'll be there too, most probably along with my trusty Husqvarna sewing machine, to make beautiful things out of other people's cast-offs. It's called upcycling my friends, and it's cool!

More details on swishing.gr and on the facebook event. Couldn't hurt liking the official swap-not-shop facebook page either, since facebook has been acting up lately and it looks like the swap-not-shop fb group won't be around in the same form for much longer.

Swap NOT Shop

Today is Saturday.

What a great day for all of us to go through out closets with a sharp eye, weed out the stuff that no longer fits, has bored us to death or simply takes too much space from the stuff we really love, give it a good wash and hang it to dry just in time to swap it tomorrow. That's right, the swap-NOT-shop team is ready to roll once again, this Sunday May 8th from 14:00 to 21:00 in the garden of 6DOGS.

The deal is that you bring one bag of clean clothes and shoes and you swap it for a bag of whatever you can find. There will also be a bench with tools and materials for you to customize your finds, in case the inspiration hits you right on the spot. Plus, designer CorBo will be there to help you get it straight. And then we can have coffee. Sunday loveliness.

Giving, reusing, having fun

At the swap-NOT-shop party earlier today.

I didn't swap this time, but boy other people did! And they really seemed to enjoy the whole giving attitude and making stuff useful again. Plus, finding something to keep for yourself is always a great perk.
Yes, this is a giant hand dangling from the balcony. It was the first time the party took place in ATOPOS and what a successful pairing that was. Loved the playful feeling of the place, it really clicked with the swap-NOT-swap attitude.

One of the three masterminds behind the whole effort, Thalia.

Seriously girl, congrats!

You can learn more about swapping, the girls and the philosophy behind the parties they organize over at swishing.gr and their FB group. Till next time!
